AI Engineer
EIT Inc. is seeking an AI Engineer to develop and integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities into federal aviation and defense systems. As government agencies increasingly adopt AI for safety-critical applications — from predictive maintenance and traffic flow optimization to anomaly detection and autonomous systems — EIT is positioned to deliver responsible, mission-aligned AI solutions.
You will work within cross-functional program teams to identify AI opportunities, build and validate models, and integrate intelligent capabilities into operational workflows. This role requires both technical depth in AI/ML engineering and the discipline to apply it responsibly within regulated, safety-critical environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and AI pipelines for operational use cases
- Collaborate with systems engineers and domain experts to define AI requirements and success criteria
- Prepare and process large datasets from aviation, sensor, and operational systems
- Evaluate model performance, bias, and reliability; document validation methodology and results
- Integrate AI/ML components into existing software systems and data architectures
- Apply responsible AI principles including explainability, fairness, and safety assurance
- Stay current with advances in AI/ML and assess applicability to federal program needs
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience building and deploying machine learning or AI systems in production
- Proficiency in Python and common ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
- Experience with data engineering, feature pipelines, and model lifecycle management
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience applying AI/ML in aviation, aerospace, transportation, or defense domains
- Familiarity with FAA or DoD AI assurance and airworthiness considerations
- Experience with MLOps platforms, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud-based ML services
- Knowledge of explainable AI (XAI) methods and safety-critical system validation
- Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field
